Questions

Asked about the Michigan Fruit Belt.

Can I drive a kei truck on the road in the Michigan Fruit Belt?

Michigan's Department of State titles and registers a kei truck 25 years or older for on-road use when it was manufactured for on-road use. A truck never titled in the US brings its import papers. The Michigan page gives the full rule.

Why a kei truck in the orchard?

Kei trucks are built to Japan's kei class limits on length and width, narrow enough for many orchard and vineyard rows. A typical shore county here also averages 93 inches of snow a year.

What about a newer truck governed to 25 mph?

It enters the country as off road equipment, governed to 25 mph. In Michigan it works private land with no ORV license for the owner, family and invited guests. The Michigan page has the rest of the rule.
