What changed

2 dates, launch to last.

Each date is Mitsubishi's announcement or sale month, never a build date. Open one for the whole entry and its source.

  1. February 1990Launch To confirmja.wikipedia: a minor change in February 1990 for the new kei rules, the three cylinder enlarged to the 657 cc 3G83 (Cyclone), codes U18T and U18V for 2WD and U19T and U19V for 4WD.

ja.wikipedia: a minor change in February 1990 for the new kei rules, the three cylinder enlarged to the 657 cc 3G83 (Cyclone), codes U18T and U18V for 2WD and U19T and U19V for 4WD. The supercharged version kept the 548 cc 3G81. Mitsubishi's own history page covers the 1984 generation (546 cc at launch, part time 4WD, the first automatic free wheel hubs on a kei, a supercharger from 1987, the Minicab Bravo van from 1989) but does not mention the 660 cc version.

Body notes

  • About ten months of production. To the eye it is the 1984 Minicab; only the plate and the engine tell it apart.
  • engines.json has no row for these codes; its 1984 to 1990 Minicab row carries no chassis codes at all.
  • A version of this generation went to North America as the Mighty Mitts farm utility (ja.wikipedia), codes U13T and U16T, not U18T.
  • All 25 years old on 28 October 2026.

The 25 year lane

In the road lane today.

Earliest units of this chassis turn 25 in this month, counted from production.from. Each truck's own date of manufacture decides, to the day, under 49 USC 30112(b)(9).

The last units turn 25December 2015

The newer lane

EPA certificates.

No certificate year is recorded for this generation.

A truck under 25 can come in only as governed off road equipment, and only if its engine family held an EPA nonroad certificate for that model year. No kei engine family was certified for mini trucks before model year 2010, so a truck built after 31 October 2001 and before model year 2010 has no federal door until its 25th birthday.
