The new KF-VE twin cam on every truck, 37 kW (50 PS) at 5,700 rpm with the MT and 39 kW (53 PS) at 7,000 rpm with the AT, better economy, the 2007 emissions certification and less noise. A light grey interior, intermittent wipers on every truck, keyless entry on the Extra and Jumbo, a CD player on the Extra and AM/FM radios elsewhere.

- In 2010 the Hijet Truck outsold the Carry for the first time, ending the Carry's 39 years as Japan's best selling truck by name (reference work; the Suzuki Digital Library confirms the 1971 to 2009 run).
- The 9th generation truck ran almost 16 years, January 1999 to August 2014, Daihatsu's own 60th page says 16 years.
- In December 2023 Daihatsu's third party committee named part of the 9th generation truck among models affected by the type certification test misconduct; in March 2024 the ministry confirmed they met the standards (reference work).
